Merkle Science Welcomes Debra Brookes as Advisor to Enhance Compliance

We are thrilled to announce that Debra Brookes, a distinguished former Deputy Virtual Currency Chief at the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), has joined Merkle Science as an advisor. With her extensive experience in cryptocurrency regulation, financial fraud prevention, and white-collar criminal enforcement, Debra will be an invaluable asset to our mission of creating a safe and thriving cryptocurrency industry.

Debra's twenty-year career is marked by significant contributions to regulatory compliance and enforcement. At NYDFS, she oversaw over 30 cryptocurrency-licensed entities, ensuring they adhered to stringent regulatory standards. Her leadership skills and expertise in cryptocurrency regulation, supervisory roles, and team management will greatly enhance our capabilities in predicting and preventing illicit activities in the crypto space. Prior to her work in cryptocurrency, Debra worked in enforcement, securing over $1 billion in fines against financial institutions for compliance and sanction failures.

Before joining NYDFS, Debra served as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice through the competitive Attorney General's Honors Program. Debra investigated and prosecuted white-collar crimes, including bid-rigging, price-fixing, and customer allocation conspiracies. Debra graduated cum laude from Albany Law School and was elected to serve as Note & Comment Editor for Albany Law Review. She also earned a master's, bachelor's, and associate's degrees from New York University.

Debra shared her enthusiasm about joining Merkle Science, stating, "I'm excited to join Merkle Science and contribute to its mission of enhancing the safety and integrity of the cryptocurrency industry. The company's innovative approach and commitment to regulatory compliance align perfectly with my experience and passion for ensuring a secure financial environment."

We look forward to her contributions in driving our vision of a secure and compliant cryptocurrency ecosystem."

At Merkle Science, we leverage our proprietary Behavioral Rule Engine to go beyond blacklists, helping crypto companies, financial institutions, and government entities detect, investigate, and prevent illegal activities involving cryptocurrencies. Debra's expertise will undoubtedly bolster our efforts to stay ahead of the industry's complex illicit activities and support our goal of creating a key pillar of the $22 trillion financial services sector.
